Hi, I’m JO and I can’t wait to work with you to help you achieve your goals! 

I am 38 years old, wife and mother of two.

I have played professional basketball, used to be a Cardiac and Respiratory Physiologist , full time stay-at-home Mum and now (you have guessed it) I am a Personal Trainer.

After having my girls and not being involved in any structured exercise program prior or during my pregnancies I decided to make my return to the world of fitness. Though after enough reading on Diastasis Recti, Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Stress Incontinence.... Just to name  few of the scary terms used to refer to possible traumas, "normal" findings in postpartum bodies... I was scared and unsure of what was safe or even allowed or recommended for me to do.

I tried to start my journey working out from home, once again unsure if what I was doing was safe, aware enough to know that some things I probably shouldn't be doing and with some signs and symptoms that told me I needed extra help. Not to mention also that motivation to workout from home is pretty hard for me to get specially with 2 under 2 at home with me for most of the days. 

I decided to enrol in one of the big commercial gyms, get a PT and get seen by my GP.

By the way, if  you ever get told by a medical professional that any of the symptoms or signs of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction you are experiencing are "normal" after birth and there is nothing you can do about it... DO NOT TAKE IT!!!

They may all be common signs/symptoms but they are NOT normal and for most of them (if not all) there are things you can do address them, improve it or at least be able to manage symptoms.

Going back to a structured exercise program and seeing the results of it together with healthy eating habits really helped me be consistent and made the biggest of impacts when it came to my Post Natal Depression. Exercise was the biggest tool I have put into place to help me fight it and come out on the sunnier side.

Exercise as become an integral part of my personal life and from there I decided I wanted to help people feel the same way as I do. Stronger! Leaner! Moving Better! Confident in my own body and its abilities!

In December 2017 I certified as a Personal Trainer and realising that there is a lot of misinformation when it comes to Pre and Postpartum Exercise I decided to take my Certification in Pre and Postpartum Coaching (which I finished in May 2018). This certification from  Girls Gone Strong Academy as armed with the most up to date and evidence based knowledge so that I can now help as many of you during your pregnancies and postpartum fitness journeys.
